Sound 5

In this last recording I was walking around the Sandburg dorms. Listening closely to the doors closing, you can hear all of the mechanics "doing there thing". It is both abrupt and yet there are subtleties to it. Somebody had there door wide open and you can hear a woman's voice speaking from a television set. Knowing my Star Wars I believe it is the voice of Natalie Portman. Anyways, the sound brings a closure to my escapade surrounding UWM and the areas around it. Back to the dorms. Back to the computer that will edit my sounds and create this blog.

Sound 4

The wind noise bothers me on this sound but I like the noise of the skateboarder and the two distinct different voices in the recording. The little bit of the story that the lady was talking about was interesting. Looking at her she seemed very nostalgic, even though the event happened only a week ago. As I walked past I couldn't help but wonder how voyeuristic I was being and how much power the two little mics that were held in my hands hold.

Sound 3

This sound blurb gave a nice feel of Milwaukee city life for a college student. It starts with a bus, which has become an essential for college students. We then hear students talking about school and finally a car drives by, reminding us of the everyday hectic traffic that resides here. I was actually surprised that as I walked father from UW-Milwaukee the more people looked at what I was doing. It seemed like the college students remained oblivious.

Sound 2

When recording this sound I was just holding my hands up trying to get the airplane coming overhead. As I walked the sound of a nail gun started up. I didn't even know it was going to happen. It took me by complete surprise, but it being a natural event made it much more special to me.

Sound 1

This sound was crazy! I put it in the little hole that is under the inverted triangle in the Pepsi vending machine while it was "powering up". The sound is interesting because I never thought it would sound like that. It was strange.

Meditate to the sound here.

Drift Strategy

My drift strategy was simple for me. I just stuck close to campus because I am unfamiliar with the Milwaukee area. I stayed close by so I wouldn't get myself lost. Then I just walked around the blocks trying to get as interesting of footage as possible.
